Gene Studies:
Scientists in Sweden say they may have found genes that help explain why a tiny percentage of men see themselves as women, cruelly trapped in the wrong body.

Genone sex and the X
Research is showing that genes and not just chromosomes contribute to the identification of sex. This is can be seen more clearly with the recent work done by the Swedes showing that HBS genes can be female yet body can be male in appearance.

Interesting point of view from a Malaysian doctor
as reported in a newspaper article that supports the research showing that
transsexualism, now identified as Harry Benjamin Syndrome, (HBS), as a valid biological condition and therefore additionally supports our insistence of HBS as an intersex condition.

Sex and Gender: Same or Different?
Dr. Milton Diamond of Hawaii quoted in this article, "Transsexuals, who I believe are intersexed, have the body and genitals of one sex and the brain of the other.

What are the differences in the brain in relationship to HBS/TS?
The following link clearly states the basic differences that separates transexualism and actually makes the argument that HBS should be redefined from the transexual concept to a non-sexual term.

HARRY BENJAMIN SYNDROME (HBS), an intersex condition
This site makes claim that if one is born with the brain gender of one sex
and the physical body of the opposite sex then that person is intersex in its
truest application.
There is research supported by many including the Dutch on brain BSTc and the Swedes on genes that give support to this concept.
In fact many who at one time thought themselves to simply be born with Harry Benjamin Syndrome later found that they in fact did have physical intersex anomalies. Some who simply thought they were sterile found out through testing they may have mosaic genes and some might have been born without a necessary reproductive organ such as a prostate.
Some lived their lives not knowing but some through testing and/or threatening body events found that in fact they were intersex even though they had gone through the whole of the social and physical conditioning seen by some as simply a correction of genital anatomy.
Therefore we state that surgery to correct the genital anatomy of a person classified as born with Harry Benjamin Syndrome is not only intersex but also one who had undergone a surgical procedure that should be classified as affirming their body to their brain. Sexual Affirmation Surgery, (SAS), is a classic intersex anomaly caused by a biological fetal error.

Terminology
|
| |
Definition of Autogynephilia
Mostly anti although many think it has validity and some well-known 'post-ops' such as Dr Ann Lawrence identify as such.
Many consider autogynephilia as a valid concept in that it is an extension of
of a transgender fetish to the extreme.
http://www.tsroadmap.com/info/autogynephilia.html
Transgender as a social construct
The term transgender is not only confusing for those who use that application to define themselves but lends itself to a contradiction as a social construct and not a reliably clear definition except perhaps for individuals but not as an overall and accepted term easily understood by society. It was and is intended to mask a variety of sexual behaviors and fetishisms and should not have as a sub-set anyone diagnosed as a transsexual or one born with Harry Benjamin Syndrome, (HBS).
It has become synonymous with gay, lesbian and bisexual groupings and society now seems to be leaning towards the term being not unlike other homosexual discriptors that of course are not at all applicable.
Transgenders only have themselves to blame for allowing their identity to be linked to the GLB acronym as GLBT. Ironic considering that many of the transgender are actually married male heterosexual transvestites.
